problems with swinging up

so i move up to a 150 13'6" spirit from a 140 12"6" spirit and ive been having trouble getting vertical and swinging up. i can make it over the bar but im basically just sitting over it and i have no legs what so ever. any advice on what to do?

You're probably holding too high. Hold lower.

im holding the same height i was on the 140 which was 12'6"

How deep are you landing in the pit? You went to a pole that is basically 30 pounds stiffer, and it sounds like you're not moving it in as well. If that's the case, you either need to hold lower or use a pole in between the two.

im landing near the front but i am getting in to the pit deep on some jumps

thats the problem those are the closest poles we have im trying to get my coach to see if we can borrow a 145 from a school in our district but we only have one meet left in our season

Grip down to a point where you're landing in the middle of the mats consistently

hey

a 12-6 grip, on average will produce a 12-6 vault... which is 8" above the grip...

to get "higher" above your grip you will need to swing faster... to swing faster you may need to lower your grip by 10cm or more..

allways remember that getting the pole to vertical is the number one goal... if you are getting the pole to vertical, easily/normally, with that grip you should be capable of speeding the swing to vertical on and off the pole....
