i have been watching some olympic vaulters and when they push a meter off the top of there pole or however much they actual pushoff, how much of that is the pole doing the work and how much is the vaulters actual strength? when i say strength im not talking about core strength for the swing im talking arm/tricep strength for the actual push.

That would be mostly the pole. Really the vaulter doesnt habe to hav a ton of arm strength but it helps. They get mist of that height frm the poles energy being transferred back to them bc of the inverted posistion they are in.

Yes but it does not need to be ridiculously strong if u excute the plant and take off correct it should b plenty easy to swing up. Make sure on your plant you have the normal high drivr knee, tall top hand and straight bottom hand as well. Then as u take off try to hokd ur take off position for a second keeping tht trail leg long and back then it will act like a rubber band flexin then snappin u up there.
