Swingup turning..

When i swing up (not completely invert, just get my legs to where i can touch my pole with them) i let go of my top hand of my pole and then land on my back ( to help with swing ups). If i keep my top hand on my pole, i pull the pole and i turn (while with my legs up) to about perpendicular to the pole. I know that im supposed to keep my hands on the pole at all times, but i turn to the left when i do that. Any reason why? Also, im straight poleing so im only holding about ~9ish feet up.
Im on a Sprit 140 lbs, 13' if that matters...

PS- hopefully you guys understood what im trying to say, its hard to describe such a scene and i dont have a video of it. ask any questions if you dont understand, thanks guys, hopefully with this fixed, i can letter this year! ;)

I bet you're bending your top arm, but it's hard to say without seeing. Quit letting go of the pole in that position, you're just going to get hurt.

By doing a Bubka. http://www.polevaultpower.com/media/vid ... bubkas.mov

Watch how his top arm comes to waist level while staying straight.

We do 3 step pop ups landing in the pit on our backs finishing with a fully extended body against the pole. If you are turning or pulling with your top arm crossing your legs across the pole, you will land with your body perpendicular to the pole. Every time you land in the pit freeze holding onto the pole with both hands. While still holding on to the pole reposition your body in the pit to where it should be...in line with and against the pole with the shoulders down and the top arm straight. Take a look around and see where you are. Keep trying to go to your final landing position on every pop up drill. Eventually you will get it. Then do it again and again and again. Then learn to turn onto your belly just before you land staying in line with the pole.
