So I think that I jump way higher when there is no bar up. And when there is a bar, I tend to shoot straight through the bar, line driving every time.
Does anyone else experience this problem? And pointers?

" ... once u look down at the cross bar your body follows it directly ..... what you need to do is once u plant and get a good drive swing ... u need to find your top hand and swing up to it"
I disagree with LHSVaulter, i think looking at the bar is important, to know where you are in the air, i feel like it is similar to not throwing one's head back, when your head stays thucked in you can see the bar.
For me, allong with the feeling of the pole, by seeing where the bar is i can tell weather im blowing through the pole or if im going to come up short and get stood up.
I understand that its personal prefrence, but this is just what i think. I agree, Swinging to the top hand is great, but by avoiding the view of the bar may set up one for some slight problems.

Yes u may be able to tell where the bar is if u look at it but thats completley irrelevant in your jump. the only time you should see the bar is after your over it.
teamates or coaches should be able to catch where your standards should be depending on your penetration, and if they correctly match your standards to your apex and clearing form there should be no problems whatsoever by looking up to your top hand and swinging to it.
Also its been proven that you follow wherever you look .. thats why yelena isanbayeva and sergie bubka ( both male and female world record holders) look up and there top hand after there drive swing..... some people think that bubka threw his head back in his vaults but he doesnt quite bring it back that far ... bubka does throw his head back in order to throw his hips into an inverted position but he keeps his eyes and focus on his bottom or left hand when he does this keeping it alot safer than some may believe. another deficit to tucking your chin and looking at the bar is that your shoulders will NEVER drop properly and you wont be able to get adequetly inverted. when you swing up to your top hand with both arms extended your hips are given the chance to rise above your head, and you dont fall out of your top form to early.
