What would be the easiest way to find the right step at a meet on a runway you have never ran on befor. My steps seem to change with every runway I use... For instance, at my friends house my 6 step is 69', at one of the schools we go to it is 70'6", and can even range from 68-71.5

I always take a tape measure to meets and try to start from a general point, but a lot of times i find this not to work and it takes me forever to get my steps worked out. then i try to run my steps back and they are never the same running away from the pit as they are running towards it.

Any help would be greatly apprecialted!

You need a mid-mark. Every surface is going to return a different amount of energy. Knowing where your mid is supposed to be will allow you to make quick adjustments, no matter where you are jumping.

Do a search on mid-marks here on PVP and you'll get your answers.

Also make sure you're running the same way from session to session.
