Timing to the recoil of the pole

Unread postby gl356407 » Thu Apr 19, 2007 2:16 am

Ever since I started to vault, I've always had trouble timing my pushoff to the recoiling movement of the pole. What usually ends up happening is that at the top end of my jump, I "muscle" over the bar, barely getting height over my top hand.

I'm 5'10", approximately 146lbs; currently on a pacer series as follows, holding at the top of each pole:

14'6" 160 (warm-up/bad day pole)
15' 150 (main competition pole)
15' 155 (competition pole)
15' 160 (rarely on it)

Do you guys have any advice as to how I can overcome/improve this inability? I would really appreciate any help I could get.

14-6 165 or 14-6 170 or probably drop your grip some on the other poles.
