jumping from a 12'6" 145lb to a 14' 150lb pole is a massiveee jump. Do you have any poles in between? Where are you holding on the 14' pole?

I think the best way to get back on to the small pole would be to start from like 2 lefts, on a very small pole, holding very low. Then once you get comfortable with that jump, move your steps back another left, and gradually raise your handgrip up while going on to slightly bigger poles.

I've been told that it's important to be "gradual" when progressing through poles, meaning don't go from a very light pole to a very heavy pole.

As usual, I'm not a coach so take my advice lightly, but those are just my 2 cents.

no that is the bad thing that is the only pole that we have that is bigger than the one i have, and i started out holding at 12'6 and then the pole was way too stiff and i was just straight poling so i moved up 3 in. increments each jump until i was at about 13'6 and once it started to bend it was just pretty much controlling me i only got probably 1 good jump off it and i want to go up, but now i am just stuck all i have are those two pole plus i guess being 15 lbs. under the recommended weight isn't helping any either but hopefully in 1 week i will be able to use it

when you were holding at 12'6 and straightpoling, were you safely getting into the pit or stalling out? if you were safely getting into the pit, then just focus on your takeoff and plant. upping your grip isnt going to immediately make you jump higher if your plant is bad and your not swinging (also, lots of approach speed is helpful)

well it was about 50/50 sometimes i could get into the pit and others i was just going up and stalling out, plus i land alot shallower in the pit when i did make it, like instead of my standards being at 26 like normal i had to move them up to 20

Well, since you are so close to your regional meet. I would suggest one day of pole runs (SAT). About 20 of em. Then try one more day on the long run, just trying to penetrate holding the takeoff postion.

Also, being well under the pole rating is a good thing if you can still move the pole to verticle. and 15 lbs isn't a lot.
From your posts is sounds like, and without video it is all hersay, but you must be doing some things right to jump a ft over your grip. so try to start gripping the new pole a manufacturers suggested lowest grip on the 14 and just hold Phase I. Then as you get more pentetration move up a fist until your getting correct penetration with the hand grip you have.
