The secret's out... ;)

I think that there is a really old thread somewhere discussing whether one should be made or not.

This exchange points out the difficulty of communication about a sport that has physical positions and actions that are not easily described. That is how we end up with words created to convey an idea. The problem is there is no dictionary or glossary complete with pictures and video for what these words mean. Creating such a treatise would be a good project for a grad student.

Any takers?

A good teacher will give corrections:
After much thought...
When the incorrect behavior is consistant
When they know the correction will solve the problem
The motivational scheme has been set up
The learning process has validity

Just part of the teacher in me.

As some of you might conclude that I feel a teacher has many more tools to use than non teachers. Altius calls it pedogogy in America it's called teacher tools. If anyone is interested in increasing their skills in Teaching/Coaching (Not Technique!) then I am open for questtions on appropriate questions. I am sure Altius has the same stand.
Ex:
Teching progression development
Goal setting
Psychomotor Learning (Skill Development)
Cognitive Learning (Knowledge base)

Etc,

You are a determined old man o crafty one!!! However before I put in the time to produce something which might be of interest and value to coaches on the topic of instruction I need to know if there is any genuine interest. If you can convince me that there is some real interest, I will contribute -otherwise it really is not worth the effort.

Interest?

Unread postby baggettpv » Tue Oct 03, 2006 12:15 am

I cannot give the level of interest of other coaches to this teacher topic. So far after my post of willingness to discuss teacher tools, no one has inquired. But we shall see. Let me tell you tho, I have used an Australian Curriculum Integration tool that I learned from the Queensland school of Vocational Education (University) when I integratedd Math, Science and Technology(Not Computers) into one curriculum. It was a Thematic Approach which Analysed the similarities of the subject matter into a rubric then combined them thru the alearning activities within one of the curriculums( Technology).
The new curriculum was very successful as the Principal took total credit for it in a faculty meeting......argggggg
Pole Vaulting is like that in a sense, a combination of similarities to ceate a model of both training and technique....
Your thoughts? Just for me.

Jump like a jumper
Move like a gymnast

There is interest.

You guys are placing too much value on replies on this message board.

The interested coaches are reading. Anything you post here gets indexed by google and will be searchable for as long as this board is alive.

There are a LOT of people who read this site and don't post.

If you have something useful to share, you should share it!

Post it in the coaches forum and it will be more likely to get looked at by the right people.
