How to practice with no pit?
yeah, but it's easier to warm up then cool down...more people die in heat then cold...
Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. - Muhammad Ali

cold definitely tougher. I've vaulted in 100 degree heat, and yeah it was bad but vaulting when there's a flake or two of snow coming down is a ton tougher. very hard to warm up, even harder to stay warmed up, hands freeze and you loose the ability to grip....risk for injury is greater. I'll choose the heat any day over the cold.

i have to agree about vaulting in heat over cold. last year during indoor track, since we dont actually have an indoor track to use we have to run almost all of our meets outside. polar bear meets they absolutly suck! i hated having to put on all these layers of clothing and then taking them off every time i had to vault and then putting them back on again after i had finished...not too much fun. but i'm def. not saying that i like vaulting in the hot weather either!

OK when you go to the meet just start out on a 3 step, and when you get that down go back to 4... and so on.
