"How are both of these vaulters who are following the same model still considered to in fact be vaulting with that model?"

Read the post and you will see that I never included Ecker in the list of vaulters using the same technical model - all I said was he was a german and that i did not no whether he did or not - I have never analysed him or even watched him jump more than once or twice on Stabhochsprung..

There is no 6.42 model -just someone being facetious. But I can tell you with absolute certainty that if you want to and will work at it you can begin to jump like Bubka. At the very least you can get the first step right!

I'll just throw my 2cents and experience in on this...

Overanalyze the vault... nah, the more info you have to work with the better.

Over thinking the vault and not concentrating on putting it all together... yes that can be a problem when you jump.

I had problems last season where I was in a slump (not just once either), and I felt it was because I was thinking too much about the vault instead of doing what I know and learned and letting it fly. A few days rest and then light drills then competition, the next thing I knew, I was PR'ing. Good feeling.
