Hey everbody, this Topic isnt about me. This deals with my brother. He is a college vaulter, and his PR is 16 ft, well he skys every bar he makes but he hasnt been able to reach his full potential. He is a very talented pole vaulter. His coach tells him he could easily be a 18 ft vaulter or better. But he still has some stuff to work on. Other coaches have said the same thing that he has some of the greatest potential they've ever seen. I have for one believe highly in the Russian model of pole vaulting. I have read Begginer to Bubka two times. So i give him as much feedback as possible and read and watch countless articles and videos. But i was looking for some other "experts" to give me a positive feedback and find what he is doing wrong in his vault. I see most of the problem is after he passes the chord of the pole. But i would like to hear from others too.

Re: I need help with my overall vault.
It's hard to see much on this video, it would be great if you could get some higher quality footage.
For what it's worth, he looks pretty good! It looks like his hands come down a little too low during the plant, which may be causing the last few steps to be slower and more stretchy than they would be if he can keep his hands high throughout the drop/plant. He is moving fast, but there is no noticeable increase in cadence over the last three steps. This would help get him a more upspringing takeoff without losing speed, which might in turn help him cover the pole a little sooner.
The position at takeoff is hard to see, and whether or not he is under. Maybe if you have another video it might show this important aspect more clearly.
He might be breaking at the hips a little too soon on the swing, keeping him under the pole, instead of swinging through the top hand/shoulders all the way up over it. That would help him keep pressure on the pole a little longer, catch the ride a little more, and make that bar easily.
Best I can do with the video at hand. Good luck to you and your brother!

Thanks Tom,
I will deffiantly try to get a better quality video up. And for the plant he is completely off the ground before the pole bends. and he was a little bit out.
