Julia Junkroski, a Lincoln-Way East High School sophomore and Jump High Athletic Club member, had quite a first two meets to start her 2013 indoor track and field season. In her first meet, Junkroski pole vaulted 12-3 - a nine-inch PR – and followed that with a 12-6 at a quad meet Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 featuring the four Lincoln-Way schools. Her 12-6 currently ranks her nationally as the No. 2 sophomore and in the top 10 overall.
Junkroski has made steady progress the last two years. As an 8th grader, she vaulted 10-0 to place third at the 2011 IESA State Championships. As a freshman, she cleared 11-6 and earned USA Track and Field and AAU All-America honors. Junkroski also has a high jump PR of 5-6.
