				IPTT Vaulting Competition

Illinois Pole Vaulting is getting better every year it seems. 6 vaulters over 15 ft in the same competition (AA), with the winner clearing 16 feet. A Class (A) vaulter who cleared 15'0 as well. This speaks volumes to the coaching quality of many of the high schools in Illinois, as well as the support systems out side of the high school programs.
First place & sixth place were sophomores, so there is no let down in the near future.
The IPTT Class AA vaulters had to endure a very long drawn out competiton and still rose to the occasion. Very impressive.

I agree. I was in high school from 1997-2000...and there were usually only a couple guys over 15 feet in a given year...and nobody over 16. At that time we didn't have Pole Vault Power, NeoVault, Stabhoch...etc. And the Pole Vault Summit was still kind of unknown. So I think our sport is doing great at the grass roots level...but we still need to do something about getting more hype for our Elites.
Let's continue making some IlliNOISE.

				Illinois Elite Vaulters

The IHSA limits the elite guys who follow the rules quite a bit. Compared to Indiana, Texas, California, Arkansas and probably other states, Illinois is very tight with restrictions on athletes who wish to compete in big meets outside of Illinois. It is against the IHSA rules for Elite Illinois Vaulters to compete in the Nike Indoor, and other indoor national championship type meets. The states mentioned above are not limited by these restrictions, at least to my knowledge. But.... Illinois vaulters still seem to figure out how to get the job done. Last year's Jr. Nationals results had Phil Hanson at 2nd and Jake Winder at 8th place. Not to shabby fellows.
