In girls’ track and field the IHSA approved a recommendation to eliminate the 800-meter medley relay event.
“With the addition of the girls’ pole vault (since 2001 the pole vault has been an event at the state meet) there is the same number of event (18) in both boys’ and girls’ track,â€Â
