My wife Dana, just broke her national record and won her nationals.
She jumped 4.51 and had really good shots at 4.61 but came down on them. She made everything first attempt from 4.00.
Other Notables:
Kelsy Hendry 2nd 4.00
Stephanie McCann NH

Add my congrats to Dana. What will she do with all those mega-bucks Athletics Canada will her for adding a centimeter to her national record. (Dream on!) Well, if Isinbayeva gets US$40,000 for each additional centimeter . . .
Sorry, if that seems to detract, at all, from my congratulations: they are whole-hearted.
My implications of the stinginess of Athletics Canada also are whole-hearted. Too-long experience with that organization leaves lingering doubt in my mind that third-place finisher Kelsie Hendry will be selected for the team to Helsinki. Just to set that in perspective, for any AshCan free-loader who might be a member of this forum, Kelsie's "A" standard SB of 4.46m also puts her at #15 on the world list.
I'm sure that Mirko Jalava won't mind my copying this abstract from his world deep list at <tilastopaja.net>, since it's repeated in his World Top 20 on that website in the section that isn't reserved for members. If you're interested, you'll find the other details of the date, venue, athlete's birthdate, height, weight, etc., in that Top 20 section.
My short-form top-20 rankings, with Dana still (after six hours) listed at her previous Canadian record of 4.50m:
1 4.93 WR Yelena Isinbayeva RUS
2 4.77 NR Anna Rogowska POL
3 4.70 Monika Pyrek POL
4 4.60 Tracy O'Hara USA
5 4.60 Stacy Dragila USA
6 4.56 NR Vanessa Boslak FRA
7 4.55 Jillian Schwartz USA
8 4.51 Pavla Hamácková CZE
9 4.50 NR Dana Ellis CAN
10 4.50 Thórey Edda ElÃÂsdóttir ISL
11 4.50 Carolin Hingst GER
12 4.50 Tatyana Polnova RUS
13 4.48 NR AfrodÃÂti SkafÃÂda GRE
14 4.46 NR Janine Whitlock GBR
15 4.46 Kelsie Hendry CAN
16 4.45 Mary Sauer USA

Athletics: Dana Ellis punches in ticket to worlds with Canadian record in pole vault
WINNIPEG-Dana Ellis of Kitchener, Ont., broke her Canadian record in the women’s pole vault on Friday to highlight opening day action at the Canadian track and field championships.
Ellis cleared 4.51 metres for the victory and bettered her previous national mark of 4.50 set this past May. Sue Kupper of Edmonton was second at 4.15 and Kelsie Hendry of Saskatoon third at 4.00. Ellis rubber stamped her ticket to Helsinki for the world championships in August.
“It feels great, I wanted to get another jump in at around 4.50,â€Â

It was former Decathlete Andrew McCampbell. Now he is going to be a pharmaceutical representative up in Chattanooga, TN. But at the moment, no one.
