Re: New french record 6.04
Fantastic - he would now rank third on the Australian All time list -I bet he is pleased about that!!!!!!!!!
Sorry folks - couldn't resist. We are celebrating Australia Day today - a bit like July 4th - but we were always independent!

If he didn't go sprint a mile after such big jumps I bet he could set a new world record one day

Re: New french record 6.04
The clearance at 6.04 was great, probably one of the highest jump he has ever done. Seems like switching to 5.20 poles was a good decision for him, as he is now able to handle the higher grips. The first jump at 6.16 was very high too. It looks like 2014 will be very interesting to watch for PV fans !
A video with all of his jumps here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUZkLvPKNlU
poles used:
5.20/14.6 for 5.67 and 1st 5.83
5.20/14.3 for 2nd 5.83, 5.93, 6.04 and 1st 6.16
5.20/14.0 for 2nd and 3rd at 6.16 (but looked kind of softer...)
Kevin Menaldo's big clearance at 5.75, to equal his PB set two weeks ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFVHhcxZZmk
He jumps from 8 lefts (16 steps) with a 4.80-ish grip, it looks like there is more to come from him!
Also great performance by Jirina Svobodova, 4.63 on fourth try (was tied for first place with Kiriakopoulou).
