According to Swedish newspapers Sergej Bubka has offered Angelica Bengtsson and her father help in reaching new goals. He will support them in going to Formia and train with Petrov at the IAAF Pole Vault Training Center

Thats really good. But does anyone know if she has a structured club with a good coach already? I mean, we all know Petrov is a great coach, but she has been improving at a rapid rate right now and you know what they say, if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

My post, was just an answer to dj who wrote "i guess her dad may have been a vaulter??". I don´t know "the Bengtssons", have only read swedish newspapers and seen interviews on TV. As far as I have understood, her father is a very open minded coach that wants to learn from and listen to everyone.

Even though you don´t understand swedish, this report from swedish television says a lot.

Some translations:
She is one of five sisters and learned that patience is important. She lives far away from basically everything. It is 25 miles to school, 55 miles to pole vault practice and 125 miles to gymnastic (were she goes twice a week). And for those of you that are used to US highways, the roads in this part of sweden is not like that, especially not during winter. Even though her father mostly drive her to practice, she takes the bus to school (In sweden you will not have a driving license before you are 18).

Here dad works full time as a mechanic, and have never tried pole vault. However he says : I try to read, and learn from everyone. I think we have a found a model that works for Angelica.

Some extra information: In Sweden (and I guess in Europe in general) you are allowed to get support even as a high school student. Hence she have a nice stipend from her club, that makes it possible to travel several weeks to souther europe during winter. And as I mentioned in the last post: Sweden have very good traditions in pole vault. Since Kjell Isakson´s first world record in 1972, there have always been good vaulters in Sweden, even thought there are not many vaulters.

So she is coached by her dad, and get helps from several others. I guess part of the idea about using Petrov is that Bubka and IAAF sees that Bengtsson has "star potential". She got the "rising star" award last fall, and the sport needs someone that can follow Isinbaeva. And as they say in the paper: both Angelica Bengtsson and her father is invited to learn from Petrov.

it never hurts to get in put... and keep learning and it sounds like her dad (and others) know where they want to go and can continue to find "Q.s" that will blend in and keep her progressing...

Ps hope to see the "replay" this morning.. i saw the 4.80 jump by Rogowska and the 5.85 posted here... she (Rogowska) is coming down the runway smooth and fast..

Well, it might, if the methods are in opposition, and ego's are too big.
At XL-Galan, where she jumped 4,63m, were the standards set at +25cm, and she almost landed in the box on an attempt where she bailed. Even on her successful jumps, did she land with her legs down the slope towards the box. She's an amazing athlete, but this lack of penetration towards the pit, might prematurely end her career. The responsibility lies with her coach and father, and I believe she has blind faith in him. It is the father, that probably has to swallow a few camels, if this cooperation should lead towards positive results. To the best of my knowledge, camels are not his favorite food.
