Blaze hits sports centre
Arsonists have torched sports equipment worth almost £40,000 at the Mary Peters athletics track in Belfast.

Hurdles, javelins and pole vault mats were among the items destroyed in the blaze at the venue named after Northern Ireland's most famous Olympian.

The fire was started in a 40ft storage container, and had initially caused a risk of a sudden fireball explosion.

Hurdles, pole vault and high jump equipment were destroyed
Sports equipment worth an estimated £36,000 has been destroyed in a suspected arson attack at Mary Peters athletics track in south Belfast.
The hurdles, pole vault and high jump equipment were in two containers at the edge of the track on the Old Coach Road.
Police said the fire began between 2100 BST on Tuesday and 0900 BST on Wednesday.
They have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them.
