Isinbayeva eyes sixth straight victory after Berlin disappointment

Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva is out for her sixth win in a
row in Daegu, Korea, on Friday.Yelena Isinbayeva will be aiming for her sixth straight victory following the Russian's World Championships washout when she competes Friday at the 2009 Colorful Daegu Meeting in Korea.

The Pole Vault star has been stung into action since her Berlin disappointment in August when she failed to clear a height, with the 27-year-old notching up a string of wins including yet another world record from her at the end of August - 5.06m at the Weltklasse Zurich IAAF Golden League meeting.

Isinbayeva won in Shanghai last weekend with another impressive performance, culminating in her claiming victory with a 4.85m vault - a new stadium record by 20cm - before the Russian had three unsuccessful attempts at a world-record 5.07m.

Berlin silver medalist Monika Pyrek of Poland, third in Shanghai with 4.50m, will be competing alongside Isinbayeva in the host city for the 13th IAAF World Championships in 2011.

4.60 enough for Isinbayeva

Another signature event today, the women’s pole vault failed to live up to the expectations. Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia did win, but only with a 4.60m clearance this time. The 27-year-old won all of her five competitions after the Berlin disappointment and also set a World record 5.06m in Zürich. Monika Pyrek of Poland was second with 4.50m and another Russian Aleksandra Kiryashova third with the same 4.50m result.
