Unread postby rainbowgirl28 » Mon Aug 03, 2009 3:08 am

As previously posted in this forum, Lukyanenko and Feofanova are out with injuries.

For team Italy, PVP member annagb is in! :) Gibilisco is provisional, he needs to jump well this weekend to make it.

Feel free to post other countries rosters here!

The Russian roster is now "finalized" following this weekend's Russian Cup meet in Tula.

No change for the PV guys:

Грипич Александр (Краснодарский край)
Павлов Игорь (Москва, Орловская обл.)
Chistyakov Victor (Moscow)

Isi has a free pass as the reigning champ, so the Russians get 4 gals:

Киряшова Александра (Республика Татарстан, Санкт-Петербург)

I hear that Paul Burgess is not competing? But I can't find that in print anywhere.

The gossip on Track & Field News is also that Jenn Stuczynski is still super injured and hasn't even shown up in Europe. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

As far as I know, Paul Burgess isn't injured or anything. I think he just feels his form isn't where it should be right now. I'm not 100% sure about that but that's just a feeling I've got. I could be wrong, at the very least I hope he isn't injured!

Track & Field News is confirming that Jenn Stuczynski will not be competing at Worlds.

USATF screwed up big time by not having Jillian and April jump-off for the alternate spot, but judging by the marks they have achieved since USAs, Jillian is clearly more ready (and that is who USATF entered).

Stuczynski withdraws from U.S. athletics team for worlds
2009-08-11 09:45 BJT

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Olympic women's pole vault silver medalist Jenn Stuczynski has announced Monday to skip the upcoming world athletics championships due to an Achilles injury.
"Despite my focused efforts for the last five weeks to get 100 percent healthy, I made the decision on Sunday that I just can't be ready in time to compete in Berlin," Stuczynski said in a statement released by her management company Global Athletics & Marketing Inc.
The American record holder was only beaten by world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva last year at the Beijing Games to settle for a silver, while another Russian pole vaulter Svetlana Feofanova earned the bronze.
Earlier, Feofanova, with a leg injury, also declared to pull out of the Berlin athletics worlds, slated on Aug. 15-24.

Injured Stuczynski pulls out of world championships
Tue Aug 11, 2009 7:05am IST

BOSTON (Reuters) - Olympic women's pole vault silver medallist Jenn Stuczynski has pulled out of next week's world athletics championships with an Achilles injury, her management company said on Monday.

"Despite my focused efforts for the last five weeks to get 100 percent healthy, I made the decision on Sunday that I just can't be ready in time to compete in Berlin," the American record holder said in a statement released by Global Athletics & Marketing Inc.

"The doctors who are treating me say that my Achilles injury is not serious, but it just has not improved enough for me to vault next weekend," Stuczynski said. "I think I just ran out of time."

Stuczynski's withdrawal leaves the Aug. 15-23 championships without two of Russian world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva's top challengers. Olympic bronze medallist Svetlana Feofanova of Russia earlier pulled out with a leg injury.

Stuczynski unable to compete at World Outdoor Championships

BERLIN - 2008 Olympic women's pole vault silver medalist Jenn Stuczynski will not compete at the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Athletics due to an injury. The Championships will take place August 15-23 at the 1936 Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

The #2 women's pole vaulter of all time and a four-time USA Outdoor champion, Stuczynski has been battling a nagging injury of late that will keep her from competing at the World Championships.

"Despite my focused efforts for the last five weeks to get 100% healthy, I made the decision on Sunday that I just can't be ready in time to compete in Berlin," said Stuczynski. "The doctors who are treating me say that my Achilles injury is not serious, but it just has not improved enough for me to vault next weekend. I think I just ran out of time. I'm disappointed I won't get the opportunity to join Team USA in Germany."

Stuczynski will be replaced on the Team USA roster by 2004 Olympian and three-time previous U.S. World Outdoor Championships team member Jillian Schwartz.

A consistent performer that has been ranked in the top five in the U.S. each year since 2003, Schwartz's best performance at a previous World Outdoor Championships was in 2005 when she finished 11th in Helsinki, Finland. The fourth-place finisher at the 2009 USA Outdoor Championships (4.45 meters/14 feet 7.25 inches), Schwartz's best clearance this season of 4.55m/14-11 came from her win July 12 in Donnas. Her career best clearance of 4.72m/15-5.75i was set in Jonesboro, Ark., on June 15, 2008.
