Dragila’s near miss at 4.62m in finishing second at yesterday’s Reebok Grand Prix set me to wondering what is the oldest age for a woman to clear 15’ or 4.57m. No great surprise to find that it was Stacy’s 4.70m last year at age 39. Other top marks in the 2008 outdoor season for the vaulter’s year of birth:

– Stacy Dragila USA 4.70
– Sandra van der Geer NED 3.81
– Alejandra Garcia ARG 4.20
– none over 3.70
– Mary Vincent USA 4.50
– Arianna Farfalletti Casali ITA 4.42
– Anastasija Reiberger GER 4.50
– Hanna-Mia Persson SWE 4.27
– Jillian Schwartz USA 4.72
– Monika Pyrek POL 4.75
– Svetlana Feofanova RUS 4.75
– Fabiana Murer BRA 4.80
– Yelena Isinbayeva RUS 5.05
– Yuliya Golubchikova RUS 4.75
– Alana Boyd AUS 4.56
– Aleksandra Kiryashova RUS 4.50
– Silke Spiegelburg GER 4.70
– Yarisley Silva CUB 4.50
– Lisa Ryjikh GER 4.50
– Valeriya Volik RUS 4.50
– Yekaterina Kolesova RUS 4.40
– Shade Weygandt USA 4.22
– Angelica Bengtsson SUI 4.12
– Liz Parnov AUS 4.05

Minimum height required for Mirko Jalava’s world deep list <tilastopaja.org>, my data source, was 3.70m. No vaulter with birth year before 1971 or after 1994 made this height.

Great list Roger. Lesa Kubishta was born in 1978 and cleared 4.38m in 2002. I think it was 1/26 at Texas Tech University. Bubba

This list is just covering marks set in the year 2008, not the all-time bests by year.

Without looking it up to be sure, I think Bengtsson is Swedish not Swiss.
