Vaulter Hooker to sing for charity
Olympic gold medallist Steve Hooker is swapping his pole vault for a microphone to help raise money for charity.
The pole vaulter will be among a number of Australian sports and TV stars to sing songs for charity at the annual Alannah and Madeline Foundation's Starry Starry Night Gala Ball in Melbourne next weekend.
Hooker will belt out Old Time Rock and Roll while the usually shy St Kilda AFL player Luke Ball is set to sing Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back.
Among the 14 performances, Underbelly's Simon Westaway and Rodger Corser will also sing, along with more polished performers such as this year's Australian Idol contestant Madam Parker.
To be held at Crown Casino on November 22, the 11th annual "love-themed" ball, hosted by TV host Karl Stefanovic and former champion swimmer Gian Rooney, hopes to raise up to $1 million for the foundation, which aims to keep children safe from violence.
