I am thinking about going to this. Lukas and I are long overdue for a trip to Germany (he is half German) and life has prevented us from getting out there, but he finishes his law enforcement training a few weeks before this, and spring is a good time for him to get off work.
Has anyone on here been to previous editions of this?

Re: 4th European Pole Vault Conference - Mar 19-21 Cologne
I participated at the last two editions of this conference.
The talks and discussions are partly in English, partly in German with English translations.
Among the participants: The most important German pole vaulters and coaches, as well as pole vault coaches from other (mostly smaller) European countries and other parts of the world.
There are practical sessions with German vaulters. In 2006 gymnastics coach V. Canali who is working with Petrov in Italy was demonstrating his ideas. In 2008 you could follow a training session of A. Tivontchik (coach) with R. Holzdeppe (U20 world champion). At both occasions you could see German vaulters doing high bar and floor exercises. Interesting observation: among the top German vaulters there are very good and rather poor gymnasts.
I collected at these conferences quite a number of new ideas for my coaching.
Also, Köln is a nice starting place for a sightseeing tour. There is public transport from the conference site to the centre.

If you study the training of American vaulters you will find the same phenomenon. Some are very good gymnasts while others are very poor.

He can find some help with the pole vault glossary I sent you last year.
I am still waiting for some feedback on my definitions of the different models and controversial terms like "rowing".
