Oh and Bubba... I think that's the best vaulter's nightmare story I've ever heard!!! :D :P

Yes, they really would have snapped unless the ceiling gave way further. Escalators are pretty tough.

I'm sure they might have snapped (or at least bent quite a bit ... depending on the ceiling height), but the article said that a quick-witted onlooker prevented them from snapping by hitting the panic button on the elevator. That's a crock, because clearly the poles already went thru the ceiling ... as can be plainly seen in the pic with Hooker hamming it up to the camera.

Once they burst thru the ceiling ...and you can plainly see that they're not bent whilst stuck in the ceiling ... the danger of bending at all, let alone past their elastic limit ... had passed. At best ... poor reporting.

At least that's my play by play. That's the way I see it. Over and out.

When I arrived at baggage claim I found he cut them in half to make sure they would fit. To make things worse, I borrowed one of Billy's poles and broke it on my first jump. Bubba

Haha...I was talking with my Driver's Ed instructor about pole vault and he thought the poles came in 2 pieces! I was like, "NOOOOOO!!!!! If they're in two pieces, there's a big problem!"
