This is from a thread Garry Hill started on the TF&N board.
"A spy in Monaco tells me that Tim Lobinger--one of the prime movers in the petition to repeal the short-peg rule--got a bit of payback today.
Miss at 5.86, then a "make" at 5.86 that was negated by a Volzing call, which didn't make him much happy. So, passes his third, then clears a seasonal best 5.91 on his only available try. What does he do then? Runs out onto the track, drops trousers and moons the officials for 20 seconds or so. And it gets replayed on the Jumbotron. Take that!"
Best thing I've heard about a Volzing call this year.

I saw it live on tv and nearly cried laughing ! At first he looked like he was just untucking his vest from his shorts but then he just got his a** out and started running about. Truely a classic pole vaulting moment. I have been fortunate enough to meet tim a couple of times and the guy is a real character (that's an understatement).

A scripture that makes me think of all you girls and guys pole vaulting....
Habakkuk 3:19
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

Getting behind in his work
If track and field wants to unveil a bobble-butt doll of its own, Tim Lobinger is a perfect candidate. The German pole-vaulter faces a possible $5,000 fine from the IAAF because, during a victory lap at the World Athletics Final in Frankfurt on Saturday, he dropped his shorts.
Both sides, we assume, can probably agree on one point: He's getting a bum rap.
