KIYIV (UKR, June 21): World Junior Champion 2002 Maksim Mazuryk won the inaugural Pole Vault Stars outdoor meeting at central square in Kiyiv organised by Sergey Bubka. He cleared 5.70 in first attempt and that was enough to win. He afterwards missed three times his new best 585 cm. Denys Yurchenko was second with 560. Two ties followed at 550. First Russian Viktor Chistyakov with another Ukranian Oleksandr Korchmyd and second for Russian Pavel Gerasimov and French Jerome Clavier. It was slick from prior rain and head-wind. However, very good crowd out to watch.
