Yeah. I don't see many high jumping pole vaulters with pop-eye like arms. If you can hold onto a pole, they are strong enough..

I doubt it is a grip strength issue for your teammates, they are probably trying to grip the pole too high for their ability and that drill.

I have enough strength to pole vault, it was 10 sets of rings and rope drills that started to get me. When you climb up a rope upside down 3 times, on the third one i would start to not be able to grip the rope. Thats kind of worked itself out in the past weeks though, and its gotten easier.

basically, i think everyone has the strength to support themselves for a vault, but the endurance for rope and ring workouts sometimes gets to ya.
