It gets bigger and better every year! The PVX is a daylong event held on July 4th during the St. Charles Riverfest in Frontier Park. Pole vaulters come from across the nation to gain a new personal record and thrill the crowds. This USA Track and Field sanctioned event builds throughout the day, starting with high school vaulters and finishing with elite Olympic vaulters. As the excitement grows, so do the crowds. The competition is designed to end just before the spectacular Riverfest fireworks display.

PVX is just one of the many Riverfest entertainment venues that attracts thousands of visitors each year. This truly is a family event. Coaches and parents will be able to enjoy all that historic St. Charles, Missouri has to offer as we celebrate Independence Day.

This is a great opportunity to meet other pole vaulters who love the event as much as you do. This is not a fierce competition. Everyone is here to have fun. All skill levels are welcome. Even though it may have been a while since the last track meet, we still want to see you here.

Everyone remember to sign up early to save money on registration! The early sign up deadline is June 17th. Also by signing up before July 4th you will get to pick from the 18 different shirt colors we offer!

PVX UPDATE

There are several ways that you can save money at this year's event:

The early registration deadline is June 17th. If you register and pay by this date the entry fee is only $35. After that, the fee is $40. If you do not register until the day of the meet, the fee is $45.

If you have three or more vaulters register and pay online in your group, you will receive a $5 refund per vaulter on the day of the competition.

Each PVX participant will receive a 10% discount off the retail price of UCS Spirit Poles for the next 12 months when purchased through Pole Sales-St. Louis (www.mopolevault.com). If you have three vaulters in your group participate in the PVX, the discount increases to 15% for each member of the group. If you can increase it to seven, your discount for the next 12 months is a whopping 20% off the retail price of UCS Spirit Poles.

We are offering these incentives encourage everyone to bring someone who has never been to the event before. It is more fun to go together in a group and creates lasting memories with your friends.


We have also added a few new things this year:

This year each participant will receive a free ticket for the raffle of a UCS Spirit Pole Bag and a UCS Spirit Vault Pole made to order. Additional tickets can be purchased as well.

We also will have an official event photographer. Andrew Amsden, an experienced sports photographer, has been shooting PVX competitions over the years. He has captured PVX vaulters in precise "freeze-frame" action photos. Andrew's 2010 PVX photos will be available online to purchase a few days after the event.

In addition, there is now an online store where you can purchase and customize your PVX gear. Check out the website www.polevaultexplosion.com for further details.

For the elite vaulters, there will be some combination of prize and travel money for the event. The details are still being finalized. Please check back on the website periodically for updates as they become available.

Even with all of the new things we are doing this year, we are still going to have the same great event with a fun atmosphere, good camaraderie, and clearing some high bars! Pole Vault Camp Announcement

A great opportunity to gear up for the PVX! Lane Lohr (Washington University) and Jeff Hartwig (2-time Olympic Pole Vaulter) will be hosting a camp June 29-July 2, 2010 at Francis Howell North High School in St. Charles, MO. The vaulting schedule is 10-12 and 1-3 each day with a 1 hour break for lunch. The price of this camp is $200 and is limited to the first 20 vaulters signed up!
