WSTC Christmas Pole Vault Camp
December 28, 29 and 30 Rick Baggett’s High Performance Center
The WSTC Winter Pole Vault Camp will again emphasize applied technique of learning the event of
the Pole Vault. The methods we will present are all inline with the European model that is becoming so prevalent in Modern Pole Vaulting. It’s not doing extraordinary things well, it’s doing simple things extraordinarily well! Come experience the excitement!!
General schedule (Final schedule TBA)
Monday
10 to 11 am Registration and Introductions
10 to noon Running Mechanics and Speed Development while carrying a pole.
12 to 1 p.m.: Lunch
1 to 4 p.m.: Pole Set and Drop Technique’s
Tuesday:
10 to noon Speed Tests and Strength Tests.
12 to 1 p.m.: Lunch
1 to 4 p.m.: 6 Step with Takeoff. The science of the European Model.
Wednesday:
10 to 12: Doing simple things extraordinarily well!
12 to 1: Lunch
1 to 3: Expansion of the run to 12 step vaults.
3 to 4 Summary and wrap up.
Instructors:
Rick Baggett: Director of the WSTC, Well known Coach of many of the Northwest’s best athletes. Many years of working with the best coaches in the world.
David Lemen: 3 time NCAA Div. 1 All-American in the Decathlon. SEC Decathlon Champion and participant in the 2004 Olympic Trials. 3 years as Assistant Coach at Pittsburg State University coaching the Multi - Events.
