Can somebody either copy and paste the rule, or link me to the rule, that would allow a coach to record or photograph an athlete during competition.. but doesn't allow them to review/show the athlete during competition? I've had another coach ask me about this since he's been told by officials that he is, in no way, allowed to film or take a picture of an athlete jumping to later review. I'd like to help him out by getting the exact ruling on this.

Electronic Devices
ARTICLE 11. The use of video or audio devices, radio transmitters or receivers,
mobile phones, computers, or any similar devices in the competition area by
coaches, athletes, competitors, and officials, is prohibited, except as authorized
by the games committee for meet administration.

Rule 6
Illegal Assistance
ARTICLE 8. a. On the report of an official or from a properly filed protest,
the referee shall warn or disqualify a competitor determined to have been
directly or indirectly aided from inside the competition area by a coach, a
teammate not in the race or a noncompetitor connected with the competitor's
team.
b. The viewing of a videotape or photos, or the use of any wireless
communication device, by a competitor during event competition is
prohibited.

The games committee can ban cameras from the competition area or a coaches box. You can film all you want from unrestricted areas like the stands or in general outside the track. It does get tricky at some tracks because not all facilities have the jumping and throwing areas inside the oval. I would assume it's the meet managements responsibility to flag between competition and spectator areas in those cases.

I would question the official as to whether or not the games committee had actually made that decision. If it's a championship meet or invitational, it's certainly possible, but usually they announce these things at the coaches meeting if it's actually a games committee decision.
