Okay heres how it goes:
I am a junior in high school. I am 6' 170lbs. I played baseball from the time was 4 up to my junior year in high school. I decided against playing basketball this year, but to stay active I did indoor track. I was injured most of the season, but went to a few meets and vaulted just to get opening height and pick up a few points. My meets were:
8'
No Height
7'
7-06
9-06
After indoor ended I decided I would run outdoor track to get faster for college football. I have vaulted only twice this outdoor season. The first time was only a couple vaults with no bar and I wasnt trying, maybe 8 feet. Well a couple weeks later we had a meet against the NYS champs, Rome Free Academy. I kept faulting the low heights like 7 and 8 feet. Then I got it together and kept going until I got 11'6''!!!! I knicked 12' with my arm, I almost had it. I got a 2 foot PR without practicing even once! I am using a 13' skypole now but Im gonna use a 14' UCS next meet. I have only vaulted maybe 10 times in my life counting meets and practices. My school has a 13', 14' and 15' poles, all 175. I have a few questions:
How high should I be able to do with a 13' pole before I move upto the 14'?
With the lack of experience I have, what do you think is possible this season? I will be vaulting 4 or 5 days a week seriously.
Since my school has a 15' pole, I want to do 16 feet this season. I know its both ridiculous and unreal, but you gotta set high goals.
