I know many people here vault and coach and i was curious as to what you thought on this. When teaching a newbie how to vault, would you work on getting a "perfect run" then "perfect plant" etc, and then merge all together, or would you teach them it all so they have "average plant, average rock back" and then work on each as you go along. I hope you catch my drift. How would you go about it?

the plant is the most important part of the jump because if you have a bad one ur not going to get much energy outta the pole....the run is also what can help you get on bigger poles because of speed but until later all that is really needed is for it to be consistant... thats what i would teach a newbie and then after they get that the swing and inverting because thats that hardest part to get for most people
