throwing my head back

im having trouble throwing my head back...my coach said its not a big deal except for it makes it harder to keep my legs back and i cant really do that so my feet come out....when i try to keep my chin tight to my chest and not throw my head back i end up staying down to long with my plant and then cant even turn up...any advice

Look up at your hands at takeoff and then watch your feet as they go over the bar.

Yeah, dont throw your head back, its bad news. Also, dont look at your feet, unless they are high ;) Looking at the bar is a very bad habit of mine and many others. Watch bubka and other elite vaulters, where do their eyes go?

think about watching your bottom hand until you are inverted and then watch your top hand... just an idea

Yeah having a focus for your eyes never hurts. Think about all the other sports, basketball, baseball. Theres a focus on the net, a focus on the ball. Have one for pole vaulting as said above.
