grip & pole increase from 4-7 Lefts?

Unread postby Russ » Fri Sep 30, 2005 8:43 pm

I'm curious to know what kind of increase in grip height and pole size others experience when going from 4 lefts (with bending) to 7 lefts.

I'm guessing that many are likely to see a foot increase in grip height, and probably 15-25 lbs. increase in pole size.

Let me know what increases you have going from 4 to 7 lefts.

Thanks,
Russ

Russ,
I am right in the range you are talking about--one foot in grip height and 20 lb. in pole. Actually, I am basing this on 5 to 8 lefts, as I very seldom vault from 4. From 4, my increase might be a little more, as I can't build up speed and position very well from such a short run.

We typically average 3-6" in grip and 5-10lb stiffer pole per additional stride/left.

When moving back we usually have an increase of about 6" - 9" in grip and it varies from 10 - 15 pounds in my girls and 15-20 with the boys. We will be moving back later this month so I may have more accurate information.

I grip at the top of a 13' 150 from four lefts and one handgrip down from the top of a 14' 145 from 6 lefts. I dont use a 7 step.
