Just a couple of problems...

Alrite, so I'm on a 160 pole that was initially 15 feet but cut a foot, and I weigh like 157 pounds. Its not a good thing, because I can't get it to bend for crap where I'm holding (I'm guessin around 12 feet) - so whether it may be better to lose the weight and drop to a 150 pole that actually bends may be a bertter idea. I'm 5'10", and just really stiffpolling everyt ime I vault...
So the pole doesn't bend, and I'm having some trouble inverting and stuff because I think about it too much, and instead of looking up/forewards when I plant, I look at the box; when in the air I don't look foreward (which should be backwards).
I was kinda just wondering if you guys had any suggestions, because for popup inverts I can get like 8 feet at just a foot under my handhold, but when actually vaulting I can't get inverted. It may be as small as I'm not swinging my back leg as fast and hard as I should be, but I'm just kinda wondering on your guys's suggestions.

Post some video if you got it... Sounds like you are just on too big of a stick... If it orginally was a 15' 160, and cut a foot, then it is like a 14' 180 now (approximately)... So there is a reason it is so stiff... Plus, where you are gripping is probably really close to the sail piece... You just need to find an in between pole, like a 13'160 or 165...

Yea, I figured that was my only problem.
O well, with the standards set at 16" I can almost clear 9'6"...for today anyways. Last time I was using another team's pole which was a 155 to get that height...
Anyways, I'm also having trouble turning; I'll try to see if I can get some vids tomorrow at my meet.

Off 8 steps - real steps!
Take a nine foot grip -
put a soft bar at 10 and
take thirty -50 jumps at it twice a week.
You will improve I promise you.

O well, I go off a 6 step, I can probably do an 8 step...only thing that sucks is well, track season is almost over...

The problem is, a little while after track ends (until the end of school - hey wait thats like a month!) is as long as I get to keep usin the pits, and then they get put away until...indoor if the weathers nice, otherwise outdoor.
I wish I was in better weather....or had somewhere around ehre I could vault

OK, my coach kept moving me back because I kept striding out on my last step, and what caused my sliding was the fact that i was always too far inside. Teh thing that scares me though is that compared to my runback, my new mark where I can plant it right is...about 5 feet back from the original mark. Kinda scary to think about that I stride out that much...
Nonetheless, I forgot one of the big things - driving my stupid knee! Up till now I've been running and just king been going with it...now if I could stop trying to pull myself up when I swing - maybe something I picked up from doing inverts into the pool...that and my arm has to stay out a little longer because it collapses as soon as I plant (my bottom arm)
