honestly, i never had to much actuall
"coaching" on this event. my freshman year
it was like "pole...pit...go" but it depends on
how long it takes you to get verticle...
if you get verticle quickly keep them lower...
and visa versa...
anyone correct me if i'm wrong because
you'll be helping me too lol

It also depends on how high/low u jump, at a invite we HAD to jump 8'6" so my standards were buried at like 41 or w/e the max is. Other then that, once i pass 13' i usually move mine back to 32" so i can concentrate on getting verticle. And again...its all about how much penetration U get into the pit. The standards are meant to be moved for a reason, so used them.

Always practice with them ALL THE WAY BACK. This puts an emphasis on penetration and SAFETY - plus, if you are jumping well, you will naturally need the extra distance to complete the swing/invert/turn and push phases of the vault. If you need to make adjustments during a meet, by all means do so - but you should still strive to keep them as deep as possible.
