wow, i so did that like all last year!!! Do you kinda do a tuck and shoot, or do your legs just spread apart and flail away as you pull up the pole? I did both :o but i don't have that problem anymore...all i can say is that i did a lot of repetition, maybe you should try moving to a smaller run like 4 lefts and with a low hand grip, work on turning over a bungee cord that is not too low, but high enough for you to just barely clear.

Just focus on getting the feet together to the top of the pole and then cross over the ankles to initiate a turn and you should be set, try squeezing your butt muscles when you invert, thats what people told me when i would kick...hope this helps

i definitely agree with izzystikchik, i had that problem earlier this year (and im not completely cured yet :P ) but anyway, think about a nice long trail leg and then try to tap both feet to the top of the pole. that helped me a lot.

Good luck!

i had that same problem all freshman year. i had a nice takeoff but my form in the air was horrible. i scizzor kicked my legs, went over the bar sideways and barrell-rolled on the way down, it was weird but i still did 9'6''. this year i fixed everything and i'm at 11 so far. it's just something you need to work on and it's in your head too...alot of vaulting is mental! just keep working.
