Ok belive it or not now that i have my form perfect and every thing is going great, the bar goes up and for some reason every thing changes. Most of the prob is inversion, like when i am doing my run threw before i come in i do it all perfect, then when the bar goes up for some reason my form goes straight down hill!!!! even at practice i am getting up there and clearing around 14' with the bungie and kicking well over 16' but then when i get into a meet i may kick 14"barely and get over 12". Do you think that i need to just try to pretend like the bar isnt even there until i get completely inverted or something? well if any of you have any i deas or have had the same thing happen then just tell me about it please!

thanks!

i have had a similar thing happen, it is a mental block. Just do your vault and don't think about the bar, and at practice put a bar up instead of a bungee and see what happens.

dont feel alone on this, I had the same thing happen to me all during the winter season. its a tough thing but you just need to practice more and more.

A lot of people have this... "problem" I define it as idiopathic bar-anxiousidus. Its still in the research stages, but im sure we will find a perfect cure for this horrible... horrible... thing soon. So have no fear!

Don't look up at the bar when you are at the end of the runway before you vault.

One thing i learned to do is NOT knowing what height the bar is at, i tell the official not to tell me what height it is and i ask my team mates to stand infront of the "PERFORMANCE" board so i don't know what i height i am at. It always works because when im done jumpin, i get made because i think i did horrible, but find out LATER that i PR'd.

Eh i tried that too before, but doesnt work for me. I want to know when the bar gets high and when im jumping for a pr or a record, it really gets the adrenaline pumping and i run faster, plant better, and overall jump much better

you would still know what the bar is at because you have to tell the official what height you are opening at
