How to get more spring out of the pole?

Unread postby travisleroy » Tue Apr 20, 2004 11:02 am

Okay so yes, I am a high school pole vaulter, looking for advice. I can go 13' - 6" on a 14ft pole holding at about 13'. The thing is when I get on the end of the pole I cannot get enough spring to get all the energy back out of the pole. I get about half way up and I just die out. Any advice on how to get more spring besides running faster?

Yeah you've prety much taxed your pole. How far are you penetrating? if it's really far, you can try to swing up a little sooner. I had to do this because i couldn't get another pole because of our poor school. :(

if you can't get a larger pole, droping your grip one hand grip has been likened to going up a stick. try this
...success is doing what you can do well and doing well whatever you can do
