standards
for the past few weeks, 2 or so, i have moved up 5 pounds to a 14' 165lbs spirit. i was not getting perfectly upside down, so always put the standards at about 80. one day i was getting upside down better and pulled them in to 68ish (came down on them at 80). So yesterday i vaulted and started with them at 70, to check. i came down on them so pulled them in to 60, which seemed to work well. i was getting upside down well so keeping them at 58 or 60 was good. however i would kick forward sometimes, and needed to push them back to 73 or 68 or so. then i would vault and come down on them. so i had to pull them back in to 64ish. it was just a frustrting day filled with confusion on my part (not knowing how close to put them but not too close...) any help or ideas?

leave them at 80, when you get upside down good it probably means you are just flipping to your back off the ground. Stay down on the pole with the standards at 80, and if you hit it going up get a bigger pole. You shouldnt adjust the standars a lot in practice you should leave them at 80 then entire practice...

i am holding at 13'9" on the 14' pole. i have a 160lbs 14' spirit i usually 'blow through', i am always kicking the bar most times. i used it all of indoors, and always missed 13'0". then i moved to the 14' 165 spirit for the first outdoor meet, and practices, i made 13'0", 13'3" (at 80), but thursday i made 13'4" and 13'6", with the standards brought in like 15 ish from 80 (62-65). those makes felt better than any from indoor too. however, i sacrificed penetration into the pits...maybe i went flat to my back, but i got way up there...
we have a home meet tomorrow and i am just a bit perplexed about standards, as i want to make a PR and make heights. should i move down 3 inches on the pole (so i don't mush it as much) and just do my normal thing with them at 75-80 or what?
sorry for the confusing long post.

I am a big believer in leaving the standards back at 80, its safer and more effecetive for my type of jump.
