i know i have just started vaulting(ive done about 50 jumps in two days), and i am struggling to get 7 and a half feet. is it one of those things you just have to get used too and takes a while for everyone, or should i just concentrate elsewhere? by the way, thanks for all of the input on the jump.

its different for everyone... when u first start ull prob suck cause u dont kno wat ur doing. and i didnt clear my first heihgt till after my first month.. but ya itl eventually come to u and everything clicks.. well not everything, if it did than ud be olympian lol, but ya itl feel normal adn ull eventually get it. i say give it time adn just keep with wat ur coach is telling u to do. he knows more than u and he can help u alot an dthen ull be getting big heights eventually.

stick with the vault. when you learn the basics it will be a lot of fun.

It takes time. The pole vault is one of the most technical events in track and field. You have to be really patient and keep at it.

With this event you have to give it time! I started this past summer, and all that I worked on for the entire summer was my plant. Now that I have a pretty good plant, I'm working on connecting the plant with the rock back...and am hoping to go 11' in a meet this year. When I first came out I seriously believed that I was beyond help (it doesn't help when you're just working on a plant and you see a guy jump 16'), but the feeling that you get when something finally clicks and you do it correctly is truly worth the time and effort that you have to put into it. Keep going and you'll love it...it is soooooo much fun!
