Pole Progression

I have got a new, stiffer pole and I was wondering if I should use this stiffer pole at practice or use my lighter pole and THEN move to the stiffer pole in practice. My theory is that moving from a lighter pole to a stiffer pole will be harder than just working with the stiffer pole the whole time. Also, will moving down to the lighter pole be beneficial since you would blow through every time?

Thanks

Start on the lighter pole. When you blow through it, you have earned the right to use the bigger pole. If you always blow through the lighter pole on the first jump and have no trouble on the bigger pole, then you are ready to start on the bigger one.

Check out Jan Johnson's pole progression chart. I wish I had a link, but I'm sure somebody can contribute one, or you could just do a little research for it.

Yeah just search "Best Flex Chart" on Yahoo or google.. you'll get it.

In regards to what Becca said, always start on something soft. The goal of the first trip down the runway (in any practice) is to take off, and land on the pit behind the box... thats the only objective.
