pole bending

Unread postby redvaulter5 » Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:05 pm

I am a 100 lb. freshman vaulting on a 110 11'6.
Im a pretty good straight vaulter and can get over 8' but im just not strong enough to bend my pole. I am still expecting a big growth spurt and everyone in my family is really tall and big. Should I wait till i grow or is there anything i can do know to bend it?

It sounds like you are off to a good start! Just keep working on good pole vaulting technique and bending will come. It's not something you need to try to do.

Remember, the name of the game is pole VAULTING, not pole BENDING. A pole will and should only bend when you are executing your run, plant, take-off and swing well enough and strong enough for the grip of whatever pole and its weight rating.
