Yea, I had the same problem before. I would try to jump the bar instead of just doing my jump.
The more meets you have, and the more bars you jump, you will get used to the fact that there is a bar up there instead of a bungee. Just really focus on doing the technique correctly and doing your jump instead of jumping the bar.
Hope this helps.

bars hurt... use with caution
i used a bar for most my first year jumping so i guess its better for newer guys, but now I just use a bungey and put it like 2.5ft over my pr and try to really stretch for it.
then when i have a bar up there I pretend i am jumping at the higher bungey and dont even look at the cross bar any durring my vault until im coming down.
I think the biggest problem people have with jumping bars is that they look at the bar and subconciously aim for it. It does you no good to aim for the bar no matter how high it is, you need to aim over the bar!

Aiming over the bar without a doubt is the only way that you are going to get over it. But the fact remains the same that if you never see a bar in practice you will never get used to vaulting with it there. Don't use it every practice, but use some practices as mock meets, start the bar low, go up six inches, you'll get used to having a bar there quicker than you think.
What is nice about this sport is that I am responsible for most everything.
