Sore Left Elbow

Hi all
New to this forum.Am a relative beginner (18 months of pv) and a pb of 2.40
I get a sore left elbow after say 10 jumps.Does aanyone know the cause?
Could it be i'm not pushing out with my left arm but clinging/hugging the pole?
Also is it the speed/power o the run up thar ultimatley creates the bend in the pole?
Appreciate any help

Assume you have right hand at top.
The left hand should not be used to force any bend prematurely on the pole. I tend to think of it as the left arm is bracing you against the pole. Preventing you from going to close to the pole to early.
Soreness could be from having a bad carry on the run-up (likely), and it could be the pole sending chocks to it when planting the pole.
Perhaps you could benefit of one of those bands that some golfers and tennis players wear to relieve them from pain when suffering from sore elbows? Also called Lateral humerus epicondylitis.

I used a brace like that when playing golf. Came from playing with shafts that were a tad to stiff. Allowed me to play without any pains (which usually came some hours after a round, if I didn't wear it).

BTW, bending comes from having a good run-up, a powerfull take-off, a long swing and gripping suffiently high on the pole that is correct for you. Never should the bend to forced into the pole by pulling or pushing.
Using the correct technique, should you be able to bend poles 20-40 pounds above your bodyweight, should you be gripping at the height that the pole is designed for (10-60 cm below grip end). However, do not focus on bending the pole. It might lead to the dark side. Focus on what happens up until you initiate the swing, and bending will come naturally when you progress up the pole.

I'me using a 140lbs which is about 30lbs BELOW my body weight (and it still doesnt bend much). however it is only 12' (feet) long.
A) Am i at risk of killing myself using such a light pole ?
B) should I go for a longer pole ?
I'm about 5ft 10 and am 175 lbs (78 kgs)
PS my coach gave me this pole.
I've just bought a 13' - 160lbs but it's like using a plank of wood!
Help!!!!

Look it's not pole bending it's pole vaulting. Quit worrying about bending the pole, and focus on learning how to pole vault properly. The pole bending part will come when you start doing other stuff right.

Hows the weather in Seattle today?
Fog & rain in Southern England today!!! Still, I have the British masters Indoor Champs at the weekend so no need to worry about the weather!!

I think the weather has been nice here, but I have been very sick for three days and unable to get outside to enjoy it
