Holding the backwards "C"

I've been having a problem holding my backwards "C" to load my swing. It seems that I lose almost all of my energy by swinging so early. Every time I jump my legs get sucked right in, but somehow I still manage to get my feet to my hands. I'm pretty convinced that if I can hold back my trail leg from swinging so early, I can have a more powerful swing that will get my legs past my pole so I can move in the same direction as it. Recently I've been working on just a high, powerful plant. This seems to be helping, but I was just wondering if there are any specific drills I can do to help me hold my "C".

Thanks,
Alex

You should not be activly trying to attain a "C" position, the position you want comes from doing other things right throughtout your run leading through your plant and takeoff. If you try to stretch your leg back and force this position you are probably losing energy. I used to think the same thing though, so I know where you are coming from. A high plant is certainly a good start!

Try to extend your trail leg, and keep it straight. Don't try to keep it BACK, but try to keep it straight. I agree with mcminkz05, don't try to hold the inverted C position. Just drive the knee, have a high plant, and a straight trail leg.

*edit* as always, I'm not a coach, so some of the things I say may not always be accurate

When you kick a football, do you hold your leg behind your body to load it with extra energy?
