Yet another post for Mecham - anyone know how to cure Internet addiction?
You are probably right though - I always watch the 6.05 jump here so assume it is the one everyone else shows without really checking - contributing to the myth factor I suppose. Still even 5.95 - or any jump at any height by Dima - is worth watching is it not?
A pity he never goes to Reno where more folk could actually see him warm up with 8 step take offs in which he is 8 - 12 inches in the air, before the tip hits the back of the box. This is of course an exaggeration drill - off a full run we are only talking a time difference of 50 milliseconds or thereabouts.

ha, dude, mecham averages 1.48 posts/day and you average 1.67 posts/day. check your profile. most message board readers have internet addiction but of course somehow most people here do find time to lead real lives.
just wanted to chime in and say that i saw the 605 jump in person. i was in total awe, for the next year or so markov was my vaulting hero, but, of course it went back to hartwig eventually.
free take off, pre-jump...whatever happend to just running like hell smashing the crap out of the pole.

you are on target to how we need to run to create speed...
i have some more info and hope to add some explanations later.. i'm on the road for a couple of days..
also tim warner has a study done at harvard univ.. and it clearly identifies where the force comes from .. maybe he has it so everyone can go to his site and read it ... everyone should read that info so we can continue discussing why and how we can run faster...even with a pole in our hands...
later..
the stride lengths and less ground time are the key and the havard study helps explain...
dj
ps.. i can tell you 80% of our sprint coaches are not getting it...
when i get home...
