In regarding Altius's Point 6, that is one thing I really try for. I heard someone say that he was always having to stretch his rollup runway back away from the box because so many of his vaulters were putting on the brakes rather than clawing at the takeoff.

We are told so often that we must pick up the tempo on the last few steps that I see a lot of unnaturally short steps with a braking action in them, effectively killing the drive at takeoff.

Both exercises will enable the body to learn what it needs to do to develop an effective take off - without a great deal of conscious thought.

Can anyone find the post/posts where Agapit explains the pole climbing exercise? I spent WAY too much time today looking for it!

pole climb

there's a two step pole climb drill and a four left pole climb drill. They are pretty simple. as you do them continue to try and maximize your grip height. As you do that the drill will force you to jump as high as you can on take off.
