pole switch
I weigh 122 lbs, use(d) a 12'4 130 pole, got 9'6 after about a week on that pole, and was going right through it- i wasn't getting much life at all. I know what i'm supposed to be doing technique-wise, but my coach says i'm overpowering the pole. he wants to do a series of quick transitions to get me on a 13' 140 pole. Isn't that like 3 or 4 weight step increases- and do I really need that much more? My first day on the first transition pole, a 12'4 140, felt like the thing was a steel rod. Do I need this transition, and is it too much? (I trust my coach but I want to get other opinions b/c I'm not sure)

Akell, i'm in a situation like you. same weight, using a 120lb 13 ft, I don't hold all the way at the top because if i do it gets to sloppy and bent, i really can't switch poles cause the next one is a 140lb 14 ft. i wander if you guys have a 130lb 13ft, but hold at the same height as you do on the 12'4" pole, this will probably make it like a 135 pole?????maybe not, and then you can work your way up, and once you start blowing through it try going to your 12'4" 140...just ametear advice, probably not good advice?
