what would you do
yesterday at practice i started warming up at 4 steps, and everything was going really good. i then moved to five steps, and i dont know what happened really, but everything was kind of out of whack and evertime i had to bail out on the vault so i wouldnt hit the standard, even when i did bail i came pretty close to it. after about 2 of those my coach told me to stop, but i said i just want to try a couple more and try to fix things so that i wouldnt do that at a meet, but i was still doing the same thing cuz i didnt know how to fixit, and my coach just told me to stop again. so i did. so i wondering, would you make a vaulter stop like that, or try to figure out ways to fix it so i dont come so close to crashing? i know there was a safety issue but i was frustrated cuz i felt that by just stopping i was just delaying the problem for another day, and i wished my coach would have helped me fix the problem. also, this was all happening cuz i was going way off to the right (im a leftie), so what would make me go that way? thanks!

I've been watching this thread for a couple of days. I've been waiting for some info from the other guys and gals who know more about vaulting than I do. Maybe all of us would have a better idea for a response if we had a video of you vaulting. You can download it free on putfile.com. Once we see what you are doing then we might have an opinion on your question. Until that time, I think all of us are pretty much going with the coach because he is there and we are not. Safety in this sport is THE most important consideration for every coach. If there is any chance that a vaulter can get hurt because of what they are doing we have to stop it and prevent the activity to happen. This will keep our event in High School track and field. So let us see you SAFELY in action. I'm sure we'll have a comment or two at that point. Later............Mike
well when i see someone drifting its because of 2 things....its your plant or ur swing....if u have a late plant it will cause u to drift and if you have ever seen scott roth jump the reason he drifts is because when he hits the bottom he doesnt stay down long enough and pulls the left arm in too early...that one isnt a bad thing becuase it easier to get upside down as long as its nothing crazy like u said about to hit the standard...if you could get some video of what you are doing it could really help
pain is only temporary victory is forever
